ComplexCon 2026: Streetwear, music, and vintage in Los Angeles

For its tenth anniversary, ComplexCon moved to the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 3–4, 2026, with evening concerts at the neighboring Crypto.com Arena. The organizers announced a marketplace of more than 300 brands, with Hiroshi Fujiwara and Playboi Carti sharing artistic direction. Their involvement brought two generations of music and streetwear influence into the same program.

Fujiwara’s Fragment Design collaborations stretched across Pokémon, Disney, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ray-Ban, and BE@RBRICK. Among the most visually distinctive were black Pikachu and Mew plush keychains, which retained the characters’ recognizable shapes while removing their familiar colors. They offered a small, accessible example of how a designer can give an existing object a different identity without changing its basic form.

Sneakers remained a major draw. Releases included Satoshi Nakamoto’s Vans Era 95 and Victor Victor’s Nike Air Force 1 Low. The blue Vans paired distressed canvas with colorful gems and charms, bringing a deliberately decorated, worn-in appearance to a familiar skate silhouette. It was a useful reminder of how much expression designers can find in a shoe people already know.

Vintage also received substantial space through ThriftCon’s marketplace, advertised at more than 100,000 square feet. Its themed sections covered collectible music and art T-shirts, early-2000s clothing, records, archival designer pieces, and upcycled garments. Alongside the new releases, this gave older objects and independent sellers a prominent place in the program. The scale demonstrated a serious commitment to vintage culture, although it does not, on its own, establish how quickly the vintage market is growing.

Music carried through the weekend: Ken Carson headlined Saturday, followed by Playboi Carti on Sunday, when Destroy Lonely also performed. On the exhibition side, the JAŸ-Z30 installation presented records and clothing as part of the celebration of thirty years since Reasonable Doubt. Together, these offered different ways of engaging with an artist’s work, through a live performance or a physical collection.

Food had its own place through the returning Family Style Food Festival, whose announced collaborations included Pizzeria Sei × Fragment Design. Across the program, the connections were often as interesting as the individual products: a designer working with a restaurant, a musician developing clothing, or a collector giving an old garment a new audience. That overlap makes ComplexCon a useful place to examine how brands become part of everyday culture.
