Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 - Detailed Review

Roy Kim |
Welcome to our detailed review of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 (MTW4). In this post, we’ll dive into the key features, improvements, and my personal experience with these earbuds over the past two weeks. If you’re considering an upgrade or a first-time purchase, this review should help you make an informed decision.

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 is the latest addition to Sennheiser’s premium lineup of Bluetooth headphones and earbuds. The MTW4 smooths out the rough edges of past generations, enhancing essential features such as sound quality, Bluetooth connectivity, adaptive EQ, noise cancellation, and a more robust app platform. These updates contribute to a refined wireless listening experience that exceeds expectations.

Unboxing Experience

Upon opening the MTW4 packaging, you’ll immediately notice the reduced size and weight compared to its predecessor, the MTW3. This eco-friendly change is a welcome improvement. Inside the box, you’ll find the MTW4 earbuds, additional eartips and fins for customized comfort, and a USB-C charging case.

Design

The design of the MTW4 closely resembles the MTW3, which is not a bad thing. The case features the same durable tweed material and a single USB-C port for charging. One notable change is the blacked-out Sennheiser logo, adding a touch of subtle elegance. The earbuds come in three colors: black graphite, white silver, and an all-new black copper. My personal favorite is the black graphite, which complements the overall design beautifully.

The eartips and fins can be easily swapped with the included sizes, although I found the standard fit to be perfect. The compact design of the earbuds and case ensures they are not obtrusive and fit comfortably in the pocket.

Wireless Connectivity

Sennheiser has made significant strides in connectivity with the MTW4. The pairing process is quicker, and the communication with the SmartControl app is seamless. The new antenna design and Qualcomm’s latest Bluetooth chip enable Bluetooth LE audio, reducing power consumption and stabilizing connectivity.

To pair the MTW4, download the SmartControl app, hold the left and right surfaces of the earbuds until the LED lights flash blue and red, then follow the app’s instructions. The connection speed is noticeably faster compared to the MTW3, with instant pairing every time the case is opened.

Sound Quality

Sound quality is arguably the most critical aspect of any listening device, and the MTW4 does not disappoint. Compared to the MTW3, the treble is more detailed and less “tinny.” The MTW4 supports aptX lossless audio, delivering 44.1kHz 16-bit CD quality sound. The refined EQ keeps the signature Sennheiser sound intact across all genres, from rock to jazz to classical.

As someone once said, “it’s the little things that make the world of difference.” The MTW4 embodies this philosophy by refining and improving the small quirks of previous models. With faster pairing, seamless app integration, enhanced sound quality, and improved ANC, the MTW4 is a significant upgrade. The MTW4 is great as your primary earbuds for travel, lounging, and leisure. They are available now on BrandsWalk.com. Thank you for reading, and see you in the next post!
