Geminai — Notes, Rituals, and the Shape of a Voice

BrandsWalk Creative |
There is an easy warmth to Nai, the artist behind Geminai, who creates from instinct as much as intention. Originally from Pennsylvania and now based in Los Angeles, she describes herself as a musician, singer, songwriter, and vocal producer with roots in Jazz and Neo Soul. Her work feels personal, open, and deeply connected to the things that move her.

In this feature, we trace the influences, rituals, and quiet details that guide her creative world. From early memories of family music moments to handwritten lyrics and incense-filled sessions, Geminai reminds us how sound, mood, and small objects shape the texture of a song.

Rooted in Feeling

Nai introduces herself simply:

“Hey, I’m Nai! I’m a musician, singer, songwriter, and vocal producer who loves exploring all kinds of genres, though my heart definitely lives in Jazz and Neo Soul… I’m all about making music that feels honest, soulful, and relatable—something people from all walks of life can vibe with.”

She doesn’t point to one defining moment that set her on a musical path — instead, she describes a lifelong pull.

“I’ve always been deeply connected to music since I was young… my dad told me a story about an older cousin… rapping and playing guitar at a family party and I got VERY upset when it was time to leave haha. I think I was like 5 so we can start there I guess.”

Her relationship to music was less a decision and more a presence.

The First Tools

Her early gear collection was emotional before it was technical:

“My first piece of gear… would be an electric drumset that my parents got for me in like 3rd grade. I would play and make up songs literally all day.”

As she grew, so did the scale of the equipment:

“As I got older my first piece of gear was a PA system for live performances.”

Across all her answers, there’s a clear pattern — she values tools that allow expression rather than tools that complicate it.

Rituals, Mood, and Creative Flow

Inspiration, for Nai, is fluid.

“Anything can be inspiration… what and who inspires me changes constantly… sometimes I’m not inspired and I’m learning (very hardly) that is also okay!”

She speaks with warmth about the artists who shape her:

“Some writers I love are Nai Palm, Lianne La Havas, and recently Spilltab! Anything jazz usually gets me in the mood, it comes the most natural to me.”

Her creative rituals build atmosphere and connection.

“Definitely getting my incense going, my lil joint and CANNOT forget my tea. I also hand write all of my lyrics which makes me feel connected in a deeper way.”

Her process is grounded in sensory cues, warmth, and a desire to stay close to the heart of what she writes.

Finding Completion

When asked how she knows a song is ready, she describes a moment of recognition rather than perfection.

“For me I know it feels complete when I hear that final mix and master! Sometimes it takes a minute but there is nothing better.”

In the writing stage, she relies on intuition.

“I know it’s done when it just makes sense… there’s always a moment of like OH this is done.”

That instinctive clarity guides the rest of her work.

Her Studio, Her Tools

Nai keeps a setup that reflects how she feels each day.

“I don’t have a huge setup, it’s mostly curated on vibes and how I’m feeling each day.”

Her favorite tool is entirely analog.

“I do love my notebook. She’s full of ideas and my own very special thoughts (silly thoughts too)… it’s always nice to refer back to the writing I’ve done in the past to tie new things together.”

She also talks about the RC 505 loop station she is still learning.

“It’s always a little intimidating for me when I take it out haha but I’m determined.”

Her approach to gear reflects her approach to music: honest, evolving, and shaped by mood.

Objects She Carries With Her

Her tote bag is filled with reminders of who she is and what keeps her grounded.

“Some things I always leave with… are my star crystal to remind me that I am a bright light, my notebook for any ideas, my rose lip oil and palo santo in case I gotta clean the air, papers and a lighter. I will forget my keys before forgetting any of those things haha.”

These objects create a familiar rhythm in her day, offering comfort and intention wherever she goes.

What She Recommends

Her music recommendation carries personal history.

“Needle Paw by Nai Palm. It really saved my life.”

And when asked about BrandsWalk favorites, she responded immediately.

“I love the Sennheiser Accentum Wireless Headphones and the Mixik Plumping Oil hehe <3”

Geminai creates from instinct, ritual, and the patterns of her everyday life. Her world is shaped by handwritten ideas, jazz-laced influences, and objects that carry emotional meaning. Through her answers, she reveals a process that is both grounding and open, a balance of mood and intention. At BrandsWalk, we believe creativity lives in these quiet intersections where sound, habit, and design inform one another. Her voice offers a clear reminder of how music grows from who we are and what we hold close.
