Design is more than just how something looks; it’s a 'livable experience'. In an industry that moves at lightning speed, a new generation of designers is doing more than just shipping pixels—they are building systems, leading agencies, and redefining what it means to be a creative in the digital age. Today, we’re kicking off our interview series with Zakaria Ourhou, the founder of Hexart. From the visual cues of Madrid to the forefront of 'vibe coding' with AI, Zakaria shares how he balances the 'quiet depth' of his personal life with the bold, high-impact systems he builds for founders around the globe.

Hi Zakaria! Thanks for taking the time to share your journey with BrandsWalk. Here we go!

Q1. Tell us about yourself!

For those in our audience who may be discovering you for the first time, how would you introduce yourself? You can answer however you’d like — one word, one sentence, an image, or even a little sketch!

I’m Zak, a brand designer who works in UI design. I see brand identity as a livable experience.

After 4+ years in branding, I moved into UX/UI to design creative, tasteful interfaces grounded in strong user experience and brand identity. I’m obsessed with systems, templates, and libraries, and I spend a lot of time making every pixel feel right before shipping.

I’m old-fashioned in the best way. I read, write, hike, and prefer quiet depth, real thoughts on paper, and long walks.

Q2. If someone could remember just ONE thing about your work, what would you want it to be?

Not sure but i guess the bold lettering designs that i bring on the web as thats whats i show the most of time

Q3. Let’s rewind to little-you — how did your upbringing shape the designer you are today? Was there a “this is it!” moment that sparked your creative path?

Not really a single “this is it” moment. It was gradual.

Growing up, I was constantly drawn to visual cues around me, especially ads and posters in Madrid, and that curiosity pushed me to understand how those flashy visuals were actually made.

Q4. We came across your post about bringing AI into your workflow in 2026. Is there a tool you’re especially excited about right now — or curious to experiment with next?

Yes. I use many AI tools, but the one I’m most excited about right now is Claude Code. I use it heavily for vibe coding to build things I never thought I’d be able to create without a coding background.

Q5. As a UX/UI branding expert, what’s the most unexpectedly delightful user experience you’ve encountered recently — whether digital or physical?

Duolingo. Their UX turns learning into a game with micro-rewards, playful copy, surprise animations, and push notifications that feel human, not corporate.

Q6. We’d love to hear the story behind Hexart When did you realize you were ready to build something of your own — and what gave you the confidence to take that leap?

Building Hexart came from my drive to work directly with clients, listening to their problems and building brand systems in close collaboration. Through many agency relationships, I realized that 1–1 interaction with a founder is what truly gives me joy in creating and building on a deeper level.

I did not want to run a traditional agency. I wanted clients to still work directly with me while I art direct and delegate execution to trusted professionals, so clients get the depth of direct collaboration with the efficiency of a team. and this is what fuels the kind of B2B business i am doing.
